We are a collective of nine makers from the North East of Scotland, united by a shared passion for the craft of the handmade. Our story began as a simple desire to share the unique, earthy treasures created by our local artisans with a global audience. At CAIRN, we believe in the power of collaboration and the beauty of the natural world, curating a collection that celebrates the skill and soul of Northeast makers.

Tweedie Beasties
Tweedie Beasties was established in 2011 and are designed and made by Chris & Moira Bruce. Originally from Braemar, Chris worked with his father - Sam Bruce, as a joiner for many years until he & Moira bought Gordon's Tearoom, Braemar, which they ran until 2011. In a complete change of direction, Tweedie Beasties was created! In 2016 they started Roaring Stag Coffee Roasters in addition to making Tweedie Beasties. Their son Ruaridh, who retired from the army after 14 years, now runs the coffee business single handed. Chris & Moira relocated to Ballater in 2019 where the beasties clan continues to expand. Each one is quirky, colourful and completely unique.

Dark Sky Crafts
Dark Sky Crafts is based in Crathie, making sculptures in paper clay and water colour prints.
Ray & Bernie moved to Crathie after many years living abroad and more recently Kenmare, Ireland.
Magic Glass by Magdalena
"I create stained glass artworks that blend traditional techniques with modern design. Each piece uses vibrant color, light, and texture to evoke emotion and tell a subtle story. Visitors can expect to see intricate patterns and delicate craftsmanship, all designed to transform and animate any space"

Hame Interiors
Sheena Wilson is the founder/maker of HAME Interiors.
She graduated from Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen in 2017 with a BA(hons) 3D Design – Product Design. Under the HAME Interiors banner are candles, diffusers, wax melts and hand products. The whole concept has been designed and made by Sheena using the highest quality materials.

Deebank Studio
Originally from Aberdeen, Claire is now based out of her home studio in Aboyne. Mainly throwing on the wheel, Claire tries to combine angular and simplified designs into beautiful and functional pieces. Her hope is to create pottery that will be well used and loved.
Alongside pottery, Claire also hand-knits Shetland wool hats and carves her own lino prints.

White Stag Barrels
Since our first day in business, White Stag Barrels has been offering our customers custom made Barrel furniture, built from recycled empty Whisky and Wine barrels made to the highest quality.
We ensure a continuous variety of fantastic unique products and can build custom-made items for any use, inside or outside of your home.
Our handmade creations from whisky and wine casks, from bottle openers to clocks to full size bars and ice baths are all created and made just outside Banchory.

Stone Cottage Crafts
Behind Stone Cottage Crafts is Ann, mother, gran and retired community nurse. An obsessive crafter, she took up dot mandala painting as a distraction from nursing during the Covid pandemic. Beginning with simple dot mandalas on natural stones, Ann’s art has evolved into complex and mesmerising cone-painted ‘Mehndi’ influenced tea lights and wall plaques. Rarely planned or practiced, each piece is hand painted and unique in both design and colour.
Cairn now displays Ann’s progressing artistry and her deep love for the Mehndi form of art, spilling over to now include wall plaques, keyrings, brooches and tea lights. And illustrating her quirky sense of humour, her framed ‘Pickled People’ decorate the wall above her work.

Muirshiel Bespoke Jewellery
Katharine graduated with a BAHons from Glasgow School of Art in 1983 and lives in Strathdon on Donside.
Katharine works with silver and semi precious gemstones using designs inspired by nature as well as traditional celtic motifs. Each piece is individually made and hallmarked in Edinburgh.
